Jewel Dirks

This was a breakthrough piece for me, written in 1989 or so.  I lived in a junkie old trailer in Evanston, where I was no longer working as a counselor for the seriously mentally ill.  I was sitting in my room with my newly purchased Ensoniq EPS sampling keyboard, and had its microphone at the window screen where I was able to record a meadowlark.  I honed that meadowlark call down to one note, added a bit of processing, and in one take played this.  After that I realized what a wonderful world of sound was available.
