The original owners, Kristy and her daughter Savanah, said Nook must have thought he was either a human or a dog.  I was always aware that he was really multilingual–knowing human, dog, goat, donkey and llama.  But I never really knew how much he communicated with the goats.  When we were out walking with a brand new little goat kid, however, I saw Nook’s nurturing side.  We were all strung out, walking back, with the main, dominant goats in front, and the new little kid in the rear, with Nook at the very end, followed by me.  The little goat, however, had been wandering around and Nook carefully nudged him back into line.  I heard him give the gentlest little low moan to the goat kid, telling him sweetly to move along.  

The sounds of this piece are all exaggerated low tones of his call.  I had just listened to a Russian men’s chorus, and wanted to get that low dignified sound.  The low tune was played on the Rise keyboard, but a little brash, so I doubled it with the previously used Equator, “J Nook Vibrato.”  I put in a little Bach, “Sheep May Safely Graze,” as a nod to Nook’s watching over the little goat.  The whole thing sounded a bit too conservative, so I added the sharp pinches from some Iris2 Nook sounds.
